Americans spent some 9.8 billion euros on video games, consoles and accessories in Q1 2020, a 9% increase over the previous year.

The NPD Group, a market analysis company specializing in monitoring hardware and software sales in the United States, has published a new report indicating that sales in the US video game industry during the first fiscal quarter were up 9% over the same period last year, a historical record.

In total, from January to March Americans have spent 10.6 billion dollars on video games. All purchases related to video games during Q1 2020 have been taken into account here, including video consoles and hardware in general, both physical and digital software and accessories.
